NEIGHBORS DISCOVER BIRD WATCHING WITH A HANDY APP
Several neighbors in our community have discovered the Merlin Bird ID app, developed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, to explore local birdlife. Interestingly, not all of them were bird watchers before trying the app, but its simple interface has drawn them in. Use the Sound ID feature to identify multiple birds singing at once perfect for dawn choruses or noisy forests. Or, answer a few questions about a bird’s size, color & location to identify species with ease. The app also provides range maps and species details, helping newcomers and seasoned birders alike learn more about birds in our area. It’s become a fun way for neighbors to connect with nature and each other, sharing sightings and feathered discoveries. Click here to discover the many different birds in our community.
